21-year-old forward Aidan Tonge will be returning to the Canterbury Rams for the 2024 Sal’s NBL season.
“Firstly, just love what this man is about. He’s a natural leader and such a team-first person,” said Head Coach Judd Flavell. “He’s the ultimate team guy. We’re looking for another step up and he’ll get more opportunities this season.”
As of late, Tonge has made a name for himself in the 3×3 game, representing New Zealand internationally with the 3×3 Tall Blacks and competing in local competitions. Tonge joined returning Rams Kaia Isaac and Taylor Britt for the 3×3 Cup in Invercargill last October. Tonge’s physicality and familiarity with the 3×3 format was instrumental towards Canterbury walking away with the 3×3 Cup title.
“We know what he brings to the table… the relentlessness that he pursues rebounds with,” added Flavell. “He’s one of the hardest working guys in the league. His workrate is second to none.”
