Bartercard is backing the Canterbury Rams

The Canterbury Rams & Bartercard are proud to announce a partnership leading into the 2021 Sal’s National Basketball League season.  The Canterbury Rams are a foundation member of the NBL and this year are celebrating its 40year anniversary.  Bartercard is a world-leading, innovative trade exchange system and allows its 10,000 cardholders in New Zealand to benefit from the cashless economy of bartering.

Basketball is going through an exceptional period of growth which is seen at every basketball court throughout the country bursting at the seams. The Sal’s NBL is seeing similar exponential growth with attendance up 76% after the first round with a total of 14,510 fans attending the opening round games. This coupled with the league being broadcast nationally on Sky Sport and internationally on ESPN and NZNBLpass.com. Bartercard has a strong history with New Zealand basketball including being the league naming rights partner from 2010 – 2013, so partnering with a strong regional team like the Canterbury Rams made perfect sense for Bartercard.

Bartercard Sponsorship Manager Ross Hamilton stated “The Team at Bartercard are very excited to partner the Canterbury Rams.  With basketball being one of the fastest growing sports in NZ, we feel it is important to support the team in our national competition and showcase the very talented local players who I know will bring an exciting brand of basketball to the competition. Fill the seats, support the Rams and watch some of the best basketball in the country!”

The Canterbury Rams have a strong family of partners including several partners that have supported the team since the revival of the team in 2014.  The support of the partners allow for the community to enjoy live basketball with the games being an opportunity to celebrate basketball throughout the region.

“The support of Bartercard along with our family of partners is vital for our organisational backbone.  This support is vital for getting our players & coaches in the community promoting the growth of basketball & utilising basketball as a medium to inspire youth to excel,” stated Rams general manager Caleb Harrison.

The Rams will play in front of a sold-out crowd for their Sal’s NBL home opner on Friday as they face the Manawatu Jets in Christchurch. Tickets are still available for the 14th May vs Auckland Huskies game at Cowles Stadium.
