Cantabrians are in for a treat this Friday at a packed out Horncastle Arena

After a hectic weekend of NBL Basketball in which results favoured the Sky Sport NZ Breakers, the team now prepare themselves for the biggest game of their season against the S.E. Melbourne Phoenix in Christchurch!

Although cliché, the Breakers season to date is best described as a rollercoaster. Injuries, off court issues, questionable player signings and losing eight of their first ten games wasn’t the start new head coach Dan Shamir was looking for. Yet here we are in round 20 of the NBL and the Breakers are hot and on the verge of clinching a playoff spot… quite a remarkable feat!

Christchurch hasn’t hosted many Breakers games before, and the fact that we get to host the final, most important game of the season is an exciting opportunity for Cantabrians to get their fix of great basketball entertainment with a lot more on the line than normal!

Rams General Manager Caleb Harrison commented on the game saying “We are very excited to be hosting the Breakers last regular season game which will be the decider for a top 4 finish.   The Rams organisation has made it a priority to bring to flight basketball to Christchurch as the city was starved from Breakers regular season and Tall Black games for a long time.  We think it is vital for the growth of the sport for young kids and their families to be able to see their aspirational role models in person.  In time I am sure we will see more and more Cantabrians pulling on the Breakers, Tall Blacks & Tall Fern singlets as a result”

The two NZ Breakers games in Christchurch this season are the first regular season games that have been brought to Christchurch since 2004. The Tall Blacks game in Christchurch in 2018 was also the first Tall Blacks game in Christchurch since 2004. Christchurch has really got behind these events including 6,000 at a Rams game at Horncastle Arena in 2018.  Friday night will be no different with over 6,000 expected for the game.

If you’re coming, you’re in for a great night and if you haven’t secured your tickets yet… you need to get in quick! There are under 1000 tickets left for the big game, with all Hollywood, platinum courtside and diamond seats sold out, while the best gold and silver tickets are also limited and selling quickly.

We have added very limited courtside seats on staging behind the baseline, which is your last chance to have a premium, courtside viewing experience. Once these have sold out that will be it for courtside viewing!

Not many days to go now and we can’t wait to have a full house and support the Breakers as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive. Don’t miss out and get your tickets today. This will be a sell-out game.
