The Rams In-school Programme provides schools and their students the opportunity to obtain high calibre coaching from Ram’s players and our coaching staff.
The programme is designed to develop basketball skills, expand basketball knowledge and improve overall technique and confidence for ball sports.
We can adapt our programme to suit the following groups:
Basketball is an ideal sport to expose children to as it helps with their balance and co-ordination as well as helping them to become proficient at using both their right and left hands with dribbling, passing and shooting. Children as young as six can be introduced but the ideal age is from seven years old to nine years old. Older children can still be introduced to the game but they may take a little longer to pick up some of the skills.
The programme can be taken with classes during school time. We provide two coaches for groups of 20-30 children. This provides an opportunity for all children to learn basketball skills, many which can be used in other sports. This also provides an opportunity for teachers to observe our coaches in action and help them to be able to take a similar programme in the future. This programme can be part of the Physical Education programme for a class for a term. Our in-school programmes are run in conjunction with the Canterbury Basketball Association who charge an administration fee of $20 per student for the eight week programme (a one hour lesson per week).
OUT OF CLASS
We can also take the programme at lunchtime or after school with a group of children whom opt to have some specialised basketball coaching. These sessions are one hour duration for eight sessions in total. We provide two coaches for groups of 20-30 participants and if you have a group of less than 15 we will provide one coach. There is also the cost of $20 per child for these groups.
