Jake Holmes Re-Ups With Rams

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — 6’8” development player Jake Holmes is back for his second season with the Canterbury Rams.

“Jake has had a really strong off-season, and we believe he’s improved across all facets of his game,” said Head Coach Quinn Clinton. “As he works his way back from injury during the preseason, we expect him to take on a bigger role and make an impact in the NZNBL.”

A graduate of Rangiora High School, Holmes logged 5 Sal’s NBL games in his first season with the Rams. The 18-year-old forward impressed in Rapid League with averages of 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 made threes at 34% from deep.

“I’m super excited for this year, getting to fully embrace the life of a professional athlete inside the Rams programme,” said Holmes. “I’m looking forward to taking further steps in my development under Coach Q, and working towards the common goal of an NBL championship alongside my teammates.”

“His positional size, defensive presence, and ability to knock down open shots will be valuable assets for our group,” added Clinton.

“Over the coming months, I’m looking to become a versatile two-way player capable of impacting the ball defensively and contributing positively to a team defence,” said Holmes. “Playing turnover free, creating advantages, and knocking down open shots are my focus areas on the offensive end.”

We have an exciting season ahead that begins at home on April 19. Be there for our home opener where we’ll face off against the Wellington Saints in the first-ever professional basketball game in Parakiore!
