Jonathan Janssen signs with KB Prishtina

Jonathan Janssen from the Canterbury Rams has signed with KB Prishtina in Kosovo. KB Prishtina play in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague and also the FIBA Europe Cup. Jono joined the Rams for the 2019 NZ NBL season after playing his college basketball in Cleveland and Hawaii.

Jono is a lengthy stretch forward, with a high percentage 3-point shot, while his height (6’9) and length helps him on the glass and be a threat defensively. In the recent NZ NBL season he averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds a game and was a key piece for the Rams who made the Final Four.

“We are really excited for Jono to continue his professional career with Prishtina, Kosovo. The team is a powerhouse, following an undefeated season last year and also playing in the Basketball Champions league. This will be another sharp change in direction for Jono who has played in Cleveland, Hawaii, Sunshine Coast, Christchurch and now Kosovo. Early in his professional career this move will help him grow as a player and is a key steppingstone into Europe. We look forward to supporting Jono during this next chapter in his journey” stated Rams Head Coach Mick Downer.

Janssen was born in Noosa Heads, Australia and he went to school at Mountain Creek State High School in Queensland, Australia. He started his college career at Cleveland State University (US) in Cleveland, Ohio. After 2 seasons at Cleveland State he moved to Hawaii Pacific University (HPU). His season playing for the Rams and now signing to play in Kosovo, is such a great opportunity.

“We are thrilled for Jono, and this next part in his basketball career will be a great experience and we believe will really help his growth as a player. He has put a lot of work in and we wish him the best for his season with Prishtina” said CRBF General Manager, Caleb Harrison.

Jono will travel to Kosovo soon and begin training and preparation for the season.
