Max Darling Returns to Rams for 2024 Season

Thunderous dunks will be returning to Cowles Stadium as Max Darling has re-signed with the Canterbury Rams for the 2024 Sal’s NBL season.

Darling first debuted for the Rams in 2017 at just 16 years old, playing two professional games while attending Christ’s College. Since then Darling has suited up for the Rams in 59 games amid pit stops playing in Croatia, Australia, and Romania in the 18-19, 20-21 and 21-22 seasons, respectively.

This past year was a coming-out party in the Sal’s NBL for Darling, as he averaged 12.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game across 21 appearances, proving to be a vital piece for a championship-winning team.

“Last year we saw huge growth in Max’s game,” said Head Coach Judd Flavell. “He was one of our defensive anchors and a player that we could rely upon.”

Darling’s highly successful season with the Rams earned him a multi-year development player deal with the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL. This past November, Darling made his regular season debut for the Breakers against the Adelaide 36ers in front of a roaring Christchurch crowd.

“He still has the potential to continue to grow which is exciting,” adds Flavell. “We’re looking for him to really take another step up in leadership and to continue to build and develop.”

Stay tuned for more updates over the coming weeks as we announce the Rams roster for the 2024 season!
