Rams Announce The Signing of Fletcher Arnold

The Canterbury Rams are excited to announce the signing of Fletcher Arnold for the 2021 Sal’s NBL Season.

A home-grown local talent, Fletcher’s basketball roots started in Ashburton, playing his high school ball for Ashburton College and Christchurch Boy’s High School. As a young player, Fletcher was able to take opportunities to develop his game and widen his experience through Canterbury representative basketball. He was a part of various successful Canterbury teams at Nationals, including the first place U19 team in 2017. Fletcher also that year made the New Zealand U18 training squad.

Fletcher is an alumni athlete of the Mainland Eagles Basketball Academy. With this support around his basketball and academics, Fletcher was able to go to the USA on scholarship at Knox College. His time at Knox gave him invaluable college basketball and international experience, before ultimately deciding to return home and continue his studies locally at the University of Canterbury.

His first NBL minutes came in 2019 when he played for the Rams, and Head Coach Mick Downer is looking forward to having Fletch back with the team in 2021 saying “We welcome back Fletcher after spending a year abroad in the states. Unfortunately, Fletcher’s plans to take the court with us have been delayed due to injury but he’s working extremely hard to get back to being 100% healthy. A great culture guy, shooter and smart player, we can’t wait to see Fletch at his best this season!”

Fletcher is heavily involved in coaching and our Rams community programs. He coaches at Mairehau High School and Christ’s College, while also visiting schools through the Rams In-Schools and Mentoring programs.
