The Canterbury Rams are excited to announce the signing of Aidan Tonge for the 2021 Sal’s NBL Season.
Aidan moved to the Garden City at the beginning of the year after receiving a scholarship to study and play at the University of Canterbury. He jumped on the offer to join the Rams training squad and has made his mark within the squad.
A Rotorua native, Aidan played for Rotorua Boy’s High School which was topped off by a Super Eight tournament win last year with the school. He also received an invitation to the Steven Adams camp last year.
Aidan has been involved in the representative scene up North, playing for Rotorua/Waikato teams throughout his career. A young and upcoming talent, Rams Head Coach Mick Downer is excited to have Aidan a part of the team this year saying “Don’t be fooled by the smile! Aidan is a tough as they come. An extremely smart player, who has great court sense, and body control when in and around the paint. He’s stepped up and competed really well this pre-season. A hybrid forward who can play inside and out, with a smooth jump-shot and crafty ability to make good plays for himself or others around the paint.”
We are only two weeks away from our first Rams home game, May 7th against the Manawatu Jets! Come be a part of our first home game in two years, get your tickets while they last!
