The Canterbury Rams are excited to announce the signing of Ben Williams for the 2021 Sal’s NBL Season.
A role model example of being a working professional and a basketball player, Ben Williams goes about his craft on and off the court expertly. Balancing a full-time job amongst the commitments that come with playing professional basketball. Habits and skills that Ben’s developed through a wide range of basketball and career experiences.
A Massey High School graduate, Ben had his first taste of international basketball through the Impact Basketball Academy, spending 6 months over in Las Vegas before returning back to New Zealand soil.
Ben attended Lincoln University on a Sports Scholarship from 2016-2018, playing for the university while studying a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Marketing. In those 3 years being a part of successful basketball teams including winning the NZ Tertiary Championships in 2016 and the U23 National Championship with Canterbury in 2017. 2017 also saw Ben play his first year for the Canterbury Rams and travel to China for the 3×3 University World Games.
Rams Head Coach Mick Downer is thrilled to have Ben back in red and black again saying “Ben has been great throughout the pre-season. Quiet by nature by deadly from outside and sneaky athletic. Ben can create a variety of shots, works hard off the ball and is an awesome teammate. A diligent worker on and off the court, it’s his second time around with the Rams and he’s been working hard to make the most of every opportunity in a highly competitive squad.”
We are only a few weeks away from our first Rams home game, May 7th against the Manawatu Jets! Come be a part of our first home game in two years, get your tickets while they last!
