The Canterbury Rams are excited to announce the signing of Carl Isitt for the 2021 Sal’s NBL Season.
A Canterbury local, Carl played for Papanui High School. Alongside representing Canterbury at the U19 National tournament in 2016 where they placed second and then for the University of Canterbury team in 2017 winning the tertiary national tournament. Carl has had success in the local scene but also has had international experience, choosing to attend Central Methodist University in the USA post high school.
His freshman year at the college saw Carl start multiple games and play strong minutes, however his second year the injuries slowed him down. This along with COVID resulted in Carl coming home to continue his rehab.
The opportunity with the Rams for Carl is an exciting one as Rams Head Coach Mick Downer explains saying “Carl has worked hard this pre-season getting in great shape and overcoming some injuries. We’re really proud of Carl, he is an outstanding stretch big, who is a great team first guy, and a smart player. We are looking for Carl to continue to push hard in the squad and earn opportunities throughout the season. A great teammate who is a true example of what we are about at the club.”
We are only two weeks away from our first Rams home game, May 7th against the Manawatu Jets! Come be a part of our first home game in two years, get your tickets while they last!
