Rams Confirm Tony Worthington For 2026

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — Join us in welcoming back Tony Worthington as he brings size & energy to the Rams in 2026.

“We felt Tony made significant strides during his first full season in the NZNBL with our group last year,” said Head Coach Quinn Clinton. “We’re looking forward to seeing his continued development and the impact he’ll bring as he builds on that progress in the upcoming season.”

Worthington debuted with the Rams this past season, making 5 Sal’s NBL appearances and scoring his first professional points against the Auckland Tuatara. The 6’7” forward averaged 3.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in Rapid League.

“It’s my second year with the Canterbury Rams and I’m excited to keep developing my game and learning from a strong coaching group and quality players around me,” said Worthington. “Just keen to play my role and do whatever the team needs each week. We’ve got a good group this year, so I’m excited to be part of it and contribute where I can.”

“His ability to connect actions and operate at an extremely high work rate is something we really value as a club,” said Clinton.

“Playing in front of a home crowd is always special, so being in the new Parakiore centre this season makes it even better,” added Worthington. “The support means a lot to us and definitely lifts the team.”

We have an exciting season ahead that begins at home on April 19. Be there for our home opener where we’ll face off against the Wellington Saints in the first-ever professional basketball game in Parakiore!
