Rams Lock In Brody Cooper For 2026

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — High-flying development player Brody Cooper is back for another season with the Canterbury Rams.

The 21-year-old Auckland product has made Christchurch his second home, playing for Lincoln University and recording 2 appearances in the Sal’s NBL for the Rams this past season.

“We’ve been extremely pleased with Brody’s development over the past 12 months,” said Head Coach Quinn Clinton. “He’s growing in confidence every day, and we’re excited to see him take the next step in his career this year. He’s put in a significant amount of work over the offseason, and we’re looking forward to seeing him reap the benefits of that.”

Cooper starred in 2025 Rapid League action, finishing as the Rams’ second-leading scorer with 12.0 points per game while shooting 60.9% from the field. He also led the Rapid League Rams in rebounding with 4.3 rebounds per game.

“Super happy to be signing with the Rams for the 2026 season,” said Cooper. “Excited to be part of such a good group of guys. Being here has taken my skill and confidence to a level I don’t think I could’ve reached anywhere else.”

Cooper initially got the call-up to the Rams partway through the 2025 season, impressing from the jump with 12 points against the Southland Sharks in his Rapid League debut.

“His ability to defend, make good decisions, and knock down open shots gives him a real opportunity to earn meaningful NZNBL minutes this season,” added Clinton. “We’re excited about Brody’s continued growth, both on and off the court, throughout the year.”

“Huge credit to the coaching staff for helping develop my game and deepening my understanding of it,” said Cooper.

We have an exciting season ahead that begins at home on April 19. Be there for our home opener where we’ll face off against the Wellington Saints in the first-ever professional basketball game in Parakiore!
