The Canterbury Rams have signed kiwi wing Taki Fahrensohn for the 2024 Sal’s NBL season.
Fahrensohn made his Sal’s NBL debut during the 2021 season with the Auckland Tuatara. Since then he has split time between New Zealand and Germany professionally, playing two seasons in the German Pro A.
The 24-year-old wing last appeared in the Sal’s NBL in 2022, where he averaged 14.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Tuatara. Fahrensohn’s play has earned him a selection of Tall Black nods, including the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup where he scored 11.7 points and nailed 2.0 threes per match.
“I think Taki is a great case for a modern day player,” said Head Coach Judd Flavell. “He gives us a lot of flexibility. He has the skill set to be able to play multiple positions with his versatility.”
In October, Fahrensohn suited up for the 3×3 Tall Blacks in the Trans-Tasman Men’s Series in Invercargill. New Zealand emerged victorious over Australia, with Fahrensohn leading the Tall Blacks in both scoring and rebounding.
“I think he’s hungry,” stated Flavell. “I’m looking forward to teaming up with him. I think we’re getting a hell of a player in our lineup and he’s going to be a great player for us and a fan favourite.”
