CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — We’re excited to announce 6’5” American-Cameroonian guard Tamenang Choh is joining the Canterbury Rams.
Choh joins the Rams with a wealth of European experience, having played in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Spain, and most recently Finland. In 2025, Choh posted impressive averages of 22.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in the Finnish Korisliiga, while shooting an uber-efficient 55.0% from the field.
“Tamenang brings elite versatility to our group on both ends of the floor, and we believe he will thrive in our up-tempo, unselfish style of play,” said Head Coach Quinn Clinton. “He has a strong desire to keep improving and takes a very meticulous approach to his development.”
“The opportunity to continue playing this Summer especially in a beautiful country like New Zealand was really interesting,” said Choh.

The 27-year-old wing also represents the Cameroonian national team internationally. With 22 FIBA games under his belt, Choh has competed in a variety of events, including the FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers, the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers.
“We feel he aligns perfectly with our relentless identity and core group,” added Clinton.
“I would describe my game as someone who can create shots and athletically get to the rim while working hard defensively,” said Choh. “Excited to be in front of the fans!”
We have an exciting season ahead that begins at home on April 19. Be there for our home opener where we’ll face off against the Wellington Saints in the first-ever professional basketball game at our new homecourt, Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre!
