CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — After an offseason abroad, Walter Brown is back in town and has re-signed with the Canterbury Rams for the 2026 Sal’s NBL season.
Heading into his sixth season in the league, Brown is primed to take on more responsibility as his game continues to expand. Brown averaged a career-high 13.5 points per game in 2025, alongside 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
“We were really encouraged by the upward trajectory in Walter’s game toward the end of last season, and we’re excited to welcome him back into our environment,” said Head Coach Quinn Clinton. “Building on that momentum, we believe he’s well positioned to take the next step in his development.”

“Super excited to be back playing at home for the Rams,” said Brown. “Can’t wait to play in front of our great fans again.”
Following the Sal’s NBL season, Brown committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was eligible to play one season of NCAA college basketball. Brown played 20.5 minutes per night for the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, making it to the second round of the NIT Tournament.
“Walter consistently embodies our relentless identity every time he steps on the court,” said Clinton. “We’re looking forward to seeing that intensity and commitment on full display in the red and black this season.”
We have an exciting season ahead that begins at home on April 19. Be there for our home opener where we’ll face off against the Wellington Saints in the first-ever professional basketball game in Parakiore!
