Rams Attract Australian Favourite

Globetrotting Kaia Isaac has confirmed his plans to join the Canterbury Rams in 2022. The home team welcomes this eighth addition to their strong squad.

Isaac was born in Sydney to New Zealand parents, and in 18 years across the Tasman, he has scored a stunning range of representative honours, twice named to the U18 NSW Country State Team, and helping take the U20 NSW State Team to the National Champs.

Following his stint in NBL1 with Waratah One Men, Isaac considered a return to his country of citizenship, to train and compete under Coach Judd Flavell in the Sal’s National Basketball League.

Isaac has made his mark on the Australian game, as a familiar face at age-group national championships as well as National Basketball League (NBL1).

According to Canterbury Rams General Manager Caleb Harrison, the organisation welcomes Isaac’s wealth of insights, understanding he is on a mission to learn and grow that can only benefit his new team.

“Kaia has the appetite to excel that we look for when building a winning team,” says Harrison.

This season with the Rams represents part of Isaac’s pathway to a US college scholarship programme, and Harrison says the decision is a win-win.

“Both our rising talent and experienced position players will benefit from the enthusiasm that Kaia brings to our bench. He appreciates this season as a chance to make an impression that carries weight for his future. He sees the opportunities, and promises to add massive value on a mission to lift his game.”
