Rams Sign Elite High School Talent Tama Isaac

17-year-old Christ’s College guard Tama Isaac is set to make his Sal’s NBL debut for the Canterbury Rams after signing an amateur deal with the club.

The younger brother of third-year Rams guard Kaia Isaac, Tama is a high-level point guard prospect whose playmaking skill and physicality make him an intriguing development player.

“Tama Isaac is an exciting talent – he’s got a bright future,” said Head Coach Judd Flavell. “He’s got attributes that I think will translate to the NZNBL level straight away. He’s so coachable and understands what we’re trying to do out there on the floor.”

Isaac made his FIBA debut at the U17 Oceania Championship last October. He had a highly successful campaign, averaging 10.2 points per game and 4.6 assists per game en route to a second place finish and All-Star Five honours.

“I’ve worked with a lot of top youngsters at this age group level before and to me he fits in that company of guys I’ve had in the past that I’ve thought would go on to become future tall blacks or professionals,” added Flavell. “He’s got a great mind for the game and I think with all those ingredients combined we’re looking at somebody who’s got a good career in front of him.”

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to round out the Rams roster for the 2024 Sal’s NBL season!
